Update!

So, what's new with me? Not much and everything at the same time!
My internship is almost over (FINALLY). I'm ready for it to be done. It's a lot of work and even more stress that I could use a break from, which I will be getting soon!
I'm going to Fort Myers on Thursday until the next Saturday. Megan and Dannys wedding is this Saturday (the 21st) and then Thanksgiving is the following Thursday. My mom will be here the whole week and Jason will come for the end of the week. We'll be staying out on the island at Aunt Kathy's. Mom and I are excited to see her again and have some quality girl time together! I'm not bringing Abbey though :-(
I'm really excited for the wedding and the VanWaus Thanksgiving! I can't believe both are practically here already!
The week after I get back, my internship ends, and then the week after that I will be done at school and will have a MONTH LONG VACATION!!!
I plan on not using my mind for an entire month! No deadlines, homework, projects, interviews, nothing!
Then, I head off to Illinois for about 10 days for Christmas. I'll be gone from the 21st to the 30th. The 20th I'm going to try to make it to the VanWaus Family Christmas party! The ENTIRE family will be there.
Other than that, the weather has been nice here! Low 70s usually. Abbey's doing good, she goes to doggie daycare on Wednesdays when I'm on campus all day (I'll post pictures soon).
I have an internship lined up for Spring already, but I'm waiting to see if any others call me before the end of November before I plan out the rest of my year.
Love you and see you all at some point very soon!

Fall 2009

The fall semester has officially begun! I'm taking 4 classes and an internship for a total of 15 credits, which is up there! I changed my track from Editing to Visual Communication within the journalism major, which really just means I'll be taking a few different classes than originally planned and my portfolio requirements to graduate are slightly different. I decided I really enjoy page layout and design as opposed to copy editing, so I'm excited about it! I have French I Monday and Wednesday afternoons, Page Design Monday nights, Visual Communication Wednesday mornings and Informational Graphics Wednesday nights. Then, I work 11am- 5pm Tuesdays and Thursday at the Orlando Business Journal, where I'm interning this fall. Which leaves Friday, Saturday and Sunday to work, homework, writing and sometimes some rest and fun.
Today I was elected secretary for Ed2010, our campus magazine club which is a campus chapter of a much larger organization. It's based off of a website called Ed2010.com that helps young magazine interns and students to land their magazine dream job!
I really like my internship so far. It's tough but I'm enjoying the hard work! I've already interviewed some pretty impressive people and once the issues are printed, I'll share my articles!
I can't believe how fast time is going by! I'm looking forward to a lot of things coming up though! Megan's bridal shower and bachelorette party, Aunt Kathy coming back to Florida, Alyssa coming to visit for her 21st birthday, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, my mom and Jason coming to visit, Megan and Danny's wedding, Thanksgiving and before you know it it'll be Christmas and this semester will be over and I will officially be a senior with less than a year left! Can't wait!

Endless Summer

Whoa! It's been a LONG time since I wrote! Sorry! I guess I've been busier than I thought.
Well, this summer I took a couple of Summer A classes (which go from June to the end of July) which helped raise my GPA :-D. I got a new job at T.G.I. Fridays as a server and I really love it! I took a leave of absence from Universal and have decided to put in my two weeks notice to them. I can go back to the company in 6 months; it's just too hot! Plus I make better money and Fridays and I really like the people I work with, I've made a lot of new friends there.
My mom has had an even busier summer though, as I'm sure you know. She got a job as a principal at a very old elementary school in or near Champaigne, IL, quit her job at San Carlos Elementary, moved out of her condo and up to Sydney, IL (or what I like to call "nowhere" Illinois) and got married to Jason all within less than a month. Needless to say this affected me a lot as well. I went up to Illinois for a week to see her new house, meet Mannon, Jason's 17-year-old daughter, visit grandma, grandpa, aunt Jane, uncle Doug, Alyssa and Matthew, and to be in my mom's wedding! It was very intimate and pretty.

Well, I have to go to work now, but I'll try and be better and post something again very soon!

If I Didn't Have a Dog...

I got this in an email today and had to share it! Its so true!

If I Didn't Have a Dog...

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.
My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.
All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.
When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.
When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.
I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.
I would have money and no guilt to go on a real vacation.
I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grand kids through college.
The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE.
My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.
I would not talk 'baby talk'. 'Eat your din din'. 'Yummy yummy for the tummy'.
My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.
My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.
I would not have to spell the words B-A-L-L, F-R-I-S-B-E- E, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T, B-I-K-E, G-O, R-I-D-E?
I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.
I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.
I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading 'mud' season.
I would not have to answer the question 'Why do you have so many animals?' from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.

How EMPTY my life would be!!!

'Until one has loved an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened'

New Internship!

A few months ago I was at Publix, grocery shopping, when I happened to go look at the wedding magazines (one of my favorite past times). I saw the usual, Brides, Modern Brides, The Knot: Florida, Grace Ormonde Wedding Style, InStyle Weddings, etc. But this day I found something new! Florida Gulf Coast Weddings Magazine... how much more perfect could a magazine be for me?! I love weddings, magazines, and I'm from Florida's gulf coast!

So, I emailed the editor, who seems to have forwarded it to the publisher who emailed me and long story short, I have an internship!

I got my first assignment yesterday to interview some advertisers for the next issue! I'll be calling them all tomorrow, I'm a little nervous, but really excited. It's an unpaid internship for the time-being, but sometimes the better you do you may get offered a paying position later on. The publisher is so nice and very smart and helpful. I just hope I do a good job and she approves.

It's a great magazine! I really do love it, they featured several real couples who got married all over the west coast of Florida, including one in Naples! I'm going to see if I can't get my hands on a few more copies of the premiere issue and I'll mail them to the out-of-towners!

I'll let you know how the interviews and article goes!

P.S.

Heres the website for the magazine, http://www.floridagulfcoastbrides.com/.

New baby cuz, Aurelia!

Lisa had her baby March 12, 2009 at 10:07pm! Her name is Aurelia Alise Sciandra and she was 7lbs.-7oz., 20in. long! Her grandma Heidi, grandpa Keith, great grandma Ilene, great aunt and uncle, aunt Kathy, aunt Jill, uncle Mark, and cousin Megan all waited for her in the hospital waiting room for hours with a birthday cake, champagne and beef jerky!

Grandpa Keith about to pop the champagne and cut the cake!

Grandma Heidi calling everyone about the baby!

I had a sinus infection that week so I got this mask in case we saw the baby. I didn't want to get her sick!

Aurelia's first birthday cake!

Uncle Keith brought his homemade beef jerky for the occasion!

Dad, Jason announcing to the family that Aurelia is here (and correcting us on the pronunciation of her name; aw-rale-yuh)

The next day aunt Jill and Cousin Megan visited the Sciandra family and got a quick video of baby Aurelia's big blue eyes! She's gorgeous!

My 21st Birthday!

Here's some pics from my birthday weekend in Fort Myers!
We had dinner at the Gallos first! They got me a cake and only had a Cotronella candle for me to blow out lol.
Then we had dinner at The Green Flash on Captiva, it had a great view!
Then, we had more dinner (all different nights) at Kumo in Cape Coral, our favorite place! It's a Japanese steakhouse and the whole family came!

The cake that the Gallos got me, and my Citronella birthday candle!
My amazing dinner at Kumo Japanese Steakhouse!

My friend Kelsey is an awesome photographer and I was in town this weekend, so I asked her to take some head shots for me for an audition I'm planning to go to at Disney on Wednesday. Here are just a few (she took like 100 pictures!)
