Wishes!

I am no longer a Disney Cast Member.
I self terminated today after talking to a manager. After my tonsillectomy, there was a ton of paperwork, miscommunication, rules & regulations, more miscommunication... it just wasn't good. Then, on top of everything else in my life, during a dance rehearsal at my other job at Universal, I severely sprained my right ankle and can't walk or stand for more than 5 minutes an hour. This means no work, for at least a week, which could have gotten me involuntarily terminated. So, by quitting myself, I can be rehired with the company in 6 months, given a check with my manager.
So, what this means now is I cannot go to the parks for free anymore and I cannot get anyone else in for free either. I still have a job at Universal, making more money actually and doing what I want to be doing at Disney, so I'm happy with that.
Anyway, my leg should be fine soon and I will be able to get back to work, unfortunately I won't be able to rehearse for the Seuss on the Loose Show though, which was supposed to start Sunday for a whole week. But I should be able to still be approved for the 80s Kidzone Show that I was rehearsing for when I got hurt.
It has not been my year so far. :-(
I also think my air conditioner is broken and can't seem to get a hold of my landlord's property management company to have someone fix it.
My last class needed for my Associates in Arts degree (Art History II) started last night also. I missed it because I was at the workers compensation clinic, but I sent my professor an email and he said he'd see me Monday! I also plan on going to UCF this week (since I won't have much else to do!) and figure out everything for the fall.
Mom will be coming up after work tomorrow for the weekend to visit and help me while my foot is still in a splint. Thankfully I have Abbey peepee pad trained as well as used to going potty on walks around the lake outside, so since the walks are out she's been very good about using her pads!
It's sort of sad about Disney, I can hear the Wishes fireworks going off at the Magic Kingdom while I'm typing this, and I can't just go see them if I felt like it anymore. But it'll be fine! I've been there, and seen those fireworks, more times than I can count, and will live for 6 months Disneyless! And hopefully when I do go back it'll be as a character or an internship, two things I'd love to do there!
Until then I'm definitely going to concentrate on school and keeping my job (which I love) at Universal! And I'm also hoping I won't have anymore bad luck, or else I'm going to need to concentrate on not losing my mind as well.

Happy is Universal

I just recently started working at Universal Studios Florida (USF) this past month... and I love it! I still work at Disney World, in fact my 1 year anniversary with the company is June 16th, as a character attendant (I'm in the pool for character) but there are pros and cons with each.
Anyway, I've met a lot of cool new people already, mostly thanks to my friend Alyssa*
who just started working there a few months ago also. She used to work with my old roommate Morgan,*
and now her and I are better friends than either of us are with Morgan at this point (long story, drama, distance... but we all still get along though!). So here are some pictures of Alyssa's "good friend" Princess Fiona from Shrek. I'll be putting up more of my "good friends;" Lisa Simpson, Winnie the Woodpecker, Curious George, Thing 1 and Thing 2, Dora the Explorer, Jimmy Neutron, and Private & Skipper (2 penguins from Madagascar) soon!

Home Sweet Home

Soooooo sleepy... but had to continue!

I'm finally back in Orlando after being in Fort Myers having my tonsils and adenoids removed (OW!). My tonsils were HUGE (Carly has pictures I'll add later).

I was doing better afterwards, then almost a week later I woke up at 3am to my throat gushing blood. The doctor did warn us this could happen (like a 3% chance of it) so I wasn't confused but it was still indescribably disgusting!

So we went to the ER (my new favorite place) and called my doctor. There happened to be another doctor in the same practice that was on call at another hospital so we drove there instead and he decided I needed stitches put in. In my throat. Without anesthesia.
So I began hysterically crying while the nurse attempted to out an IV in my hand, didn't work out, and went to the arm. My hysteria continued throughout the entire, 'bout half an hour, procedure, which consisted of my my right hand holding the tongue depressor while my mom held the suction thing, and the doctor sprayed numbing stuff, shot me with numbing stuff, then scraped away blood and stuff, and used a round needle to thread six stitches into my throat, while the 4 nurses watched from the side. I was sitting up the whole time crying with my mom.

Worst night of my life, well, at least it was added to the top 3. I've had a lot of bad nights lately. 2008 is not my favorite year so far.

Then, Saturday my mom put our family's 2 dachshunds up for adoption. We've had Ruby (the fat black one) and Roxy (the smaller brown one) for 7 and 6 years! But after my dad died a couple months ago, and with her being a principal and having so much to do, she doesn't have time for them, and they get neglected in the end, just sitting in they're crates all day. My mom could never even take time off to come see me or go anywhere else for very long either without having to either bring them (big pain in the ass) or get a dog sitter (big waste of money). So I understood why it was necessary, but it didn't change how sad it was.

She emailed a dachshund rescue site Saturday and a foster family called us Sunday. They're two men in Cape Coral with 8 dachshunds, 2 other foster dachshunds, and now Ruby and Roxy. But, surprisingly, their house was really nice and very clean, for having 14 dogs. It'll be the best for everyone in the end. I miss them though.

What's a Blog?

My friend Lindsay had no idea what a Blog was.

According to Wikipedia...

"A blog (an abridgment of the term web log) is a website, usually maintained by an individual, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio(podcasting) are part of a wider network of social media. Micro-blogging is another type of blogging which consists of blogs with very short posts. As of December 2007, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs. With the advent of video blogging, the word blog has taken on an even looser meaning of any bit of media wherein the subject expresses his opinion or simply talks about something."

So there you go!

I've been wanting to start a blog for a while, but I thought I wouldn't really know what to say... then a friend was telling Lindsay and I about hers, so I thought I'd at least try!

Considering I want to be a journalist, I figure it couldn't hurt to start writing about getting a life.

And the quote about life under the title is actually a fortune I got at PF Changs recently. :-)
